Donna, as promised, some feedback about our trip.

-  resort was amazing; Yvonne loved the feel and polish of the bungalow; didn’t feel like we were away from home
- we were upgraded to a lagoon view
- service was beyond expectations; one example: at the spa, another couple jumped in front of a club car meant for us; the staff gave Yvonne a $40 massage oil for our “inconvenience”
- loved the private lagoons on property to paddle board and snorkel
- restaurants were solid, although lacking variety; but again, service was outstanding and our special requests were fulfilled oftentimes without charge
- took Yvonne’s food allergies very seriously and checked often to ensure ingredients were acceptable to her
- resort was only 60% full; many times we had the spa and restaurants to ourselves … fantastic
- loved the complimentary water sports and gear
- lots of complimentary bottled water
- excellent housekeeping
Loving Tahiti! ....Reef Discovery with Christophe, best snorkel tour ever … small group, five stops, great service, amazing sea life.  Will contact you for our Switzerland and Madives stay - our next big trip!

Thanks again for everything Donna.

Family Vacation Sweden and Italy

Thanks Donna!  It was a fabulous trip!  We loved everything - especially Verona and Trezzemo!  God willing we will return to that area - Portofino and possibly Lake Garda?  We love Italy.  I think this was our best trip yet. A friend of mine said, "Once you taste Europe, there is nothing that compares".  I think I would agree.
Thank you so much.  It was most wonderful.  We loved the Grand Hotel - wow!!!!!  Now but a memory - but a special one it is.
Fun, Fun, Fun! Thank you for your help, your patience and your suggestions and encouragement.

   Mama mia, what a trip!

Chile First Class

My husband and I traveled together to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and my 60th birthday and wanted undivided, first class service throughout the trip.

We chose Chile: the country's majesty wonderful diversification in geography and climate closed the deal. We wanted the entire experience from the northern desert, modern sophisticated Santiago, the central lakes/glacier region—all the way to Patagonia in the far south. With so much territory to cover in two weeks, we wanted to guarantee at least four nights in a resort at the front and back ends to relax. Our Travel Consultant, Donna Salerno, an affiliate of Virtuoso, planned our itinerary perfectly.

Thank You, for all that you did to make our vacation smooth.  It actually went like clockwork.  Every one of the guides and drivers did their job flawlessly, directed us with knowledge of restaurants, shops, etc., and made a pleasant time for all.  Were it not for your knowledge of who and how to make all the arrangements, especially the special treat to renew our vows, I am sure we would have a less than favorable memory of our experience to South Africa.  As I ponder it all, the highlights were of course renewing vows, Kruger Park, also Soweto and Mandela Museum Tour, drinking home made beer with locals, and talking with other locals at Pilgrim's Rest. Again, Thank You.

Thanks Donna                     ,         we had a great trip to Africa!

What an amazing country!  Africa!  All of our guides and drivers were fantastic

My favorite activity was visiting the migration on the Serengeti (thanks for your suggestion!).  We were lucky and got wonderful pictures of Kilimanjaro (also another favorite of mine).  The Giraffe Manor was exciting and we took so many pictures of the giraffes---everywhere!  The Ngorongoro Crater was like the Garden of Eden, with so much wildlife--the picnic lunch and tours you arranged there were amazing.

Next time, Stone   Town in Zanzibar  - loved it.  We saw a couple neat places there. Everything ran so smoothly – it really was a trip of a lifetime.  Thanks for all your help.

Donna:

Just wanted to let you know we're back from Italy and everything went smooth as silk. Your help with all the arrangements was the best!

Our hotel rooms were fantastic. All the transfers, private sightseeing and guides were wonderful; they even taught us some Italian along the way.

Thanks for sending the quick phrase cheat sheet, it really helped.

We'll be sure to contact you again for our next trip! Still deciding where... Will definitely pass along your information to friends that travel.

Ciao for now.

Dear Donna,
I've written this recommendation of your work to share with other LinkedIn.com users.

Thank you for everything! We will definitely contact you when we plan our trip to Spain!

Marvin

Details of the Recommendation: "I learned of Donna while researching the French Polynesian Islands for our 25th anniversary. Simply put, Donna is absolutely amazing! She planned every aspect of the trip, recommending different islands, experiences and the best places to dine. She worked with us through every step of the process, making sure every detail was perfect. Most importantly, whenever any issues arose, Donna personally made them right. Her attention to detail, expert knowledge and true passion for creating memorable experiences made this our most wonderful vacation ever. I highly recommend Donna to anyone looking to create the perfect vacation."

 Donna,

Western Canada exceeded all expectations. Vancouver is still basking in post Olympic glory, and while we were there, in perfect weather. The Fairmont Pacific Rim is a terrific hotel and our corner room yielded marvelous scenery, including the view from the hot tub. The staff was first rate by any measure.

Our Vancouver guide did a great job of showing us around town. He knew his stuff and was very personable. He suggested Cin Cin for dinner and that was a winner.

Victoria by seaplane was great. Guide was okay at best. Empress for tea was worth the trip.

The Rocky Mountaineer  was spectacular. Scenery to die for, gourmet food, interesting and diverse fellow passengers, and well trained and informative staff.

Kamloops was modest as advertised. We crashed early and got a good nights sleep.

Jasper was next and the park and views were spectacular. You should be advised that the Jasper Lodge was very tired, the room barely satisfactory.
Our drive to Banff was a non event as it rained hard all the way with the mountains in the clouds and fog. We drove straight through to the hotel and loved it from the moment we entered. It is old and historical with a charm that is well supported by the staff. We ate in three of the restaurants and they were good.

It rained the next day as well so we donned rain gear and explored all of the shops in the adorable (Linda's description) little town.

Since the weather had precluded stopping at Lake Louise on our drive to Banff, we spent the next day visiting that incredible area on a cool but clear day. The first sighting of the lake gave us a rush. What a color. We hiked around the lake and returned to the Chateau for a window table in the Lakeview lounge. A dream day.

Onward for the short drive to Calgary-and the horrendous traffic of a city engaged in extensive building in the downtown and the influx of visitors in town for the Stampede.  We walked the town to get into the spirit of things. Linda was quite fetching in her Jeans and cowgirl hat while I made do with jeans and my Cubs baseball cap. Fun atmosphere.

We did go to the Stampede twice and enjoyed it immensely. The Midway was packed with a very diverse and good natured crowd enjoying the largest collection of rides and fast food that I have ever seen. We attended the chuck wagon races and then experienced a truly spectacular grandstand show (I guess I was expecting C&W).  It was presented Cirque style and featured well over 100 dancers and singers including performing kids of all ages set in a background of major league fireworks.  A truly memorable evening. Next day we caught the broncs, bulls, steer wrestling etc.

Donna, the Canadian people could not have been more welcoming or friendly. I felt the same way after our Eastern swing two years ago.

The travel plan you put together for us was executed perfectly by all. We appreciate deeply your efforts.  Thank You!

Great Italian trip.  Well planned and well delivered - you did a fantastic job.

Our tour guide, Kris, was more than great.  Weather was perfect, 10 sunshiny days in a row, so didn't miss a beat.  It was truly memorable, being right there--all the things we've read about, seen pictures of, viewed in movies.

Kept having to pinch myself, as I couldn't believe I was in a gondola in Venice, in Vatican Square, on the streets of Pompeii, etc., etc. etc.

Thanks for your help during the planning.  We really enjoyed our stay and will contact you again for our next adventure!

We had a wonderful trip. Three beautiful cities with unique charms. All three tours were excellent and the local guides, particularly the one in Tallinn, were charming and informative. I'm so glad you included the guided tours in the package. They oriented us to the city and showed us some sites we wouldn't have seen otherwise.

The food was splendid and we had some memorable meals--particularly the tasting menus at The Three Sisters and Chez Dominique in Helsinki. I really enjoyed the decorative arts museum in Riga. The market in Riga is truly something to behold. Its the largest in Europe. We had some rain one day, but not enough to slow us down.

All in all, truly enjoyable. I was concerned that there might be too much moving around. But that was not the case. Thank you. We don't have any immediate plans--but certainly we'll be going somewhere next summer or fall and we'll be sure to use you to make the arrangements.

Our trip was amazing!  We had a fabulous time.

Brad's favorite activity was the golf, we loved the Highlands on the train, the shopping, the falconry...loved the castles.  Jim took me around to different sights while Brad golfed so I was never bored.  Really, we just loved everything!!!  They really catered to us and tailored the trip to meet our interests.

We will definitely pass your info on to any traveling friends.  Thanks for helping us to have a fabulous trip, even if a lot of it was at the last minute but you all pulled it off!

I really think next year, we want to go to maybe Italy/France or Ireland/London or something like that...do you all have any trips that go along with that?  It would probably be similar time of the year...either may/June or Aug/Sept and for 10-12 days as well.  We will try to plan earlier this time!

Thanks again and keep in contact if you have anything available that suits the next trip we have in mind! Thanks!

I just wanted to write to say how much we enjoyed our trip to Italy!  Wow!  Amazing, interesting, educational, fun, unbelievable...(I could go on and not find enough words to describe it)!

Our tour guide was amazing. He really made the trip special with his knowledge, enthusiasm, patience and all the extra services he went out of his way to provide.

The hotels were spectacular, the activities were fun and educational.  I know that we would not have seen or learned as much without booking with you.  It was the trip of a lifetime for our entire family.

Thank You again for all your suggestions.  Will be letting our friends know of your service and contacting you soon for our next vacation.

The entire trip was the picture of perfection. Far exceeded our expectations. The sights and activities you planned were fabulous.  The guides were excellent. You designed the trip to be unique at every stop; so it is hard to compare one to the other to come up with a favorite.

You were smart and we were lucky(!) to start with Skeleton Coast first and wind up at Ivory Lodge last on our safaris - - start with the roughest first and finish up in luxury. Perfect. Food was great at all camps but the Ivory Lodge was beyond excellent!!

The V&A Waterfront Hotel turned out to be a better choice than The Cape Grace. Our view from the V&A was of the entire waterfront, all of Table Mountain, and the City Center.  It did not seem like one could get that from The Cape Grace. Plus, The Cape Grace had lots of construction going on with lots of noise. So, we had the better choice, even though The Cape Grace has more luxury.

Will be in touch soon for our winter escape. Thanks again for all your help & guidance with this wonderful trip.

Sorry I haven’t responded sooner. When the vacation ended, I hit the ground running and have continued so.  Need to start working on another get-away with you!

The trip was wonderful. We loved the hotels you choose for us in London and Barcelona!  Of course the Seabourn cruise with the suite, was more than excellent!

It was nice to have time to relax after the cruise in Barcelona.
Thank You again for the suggestion on adding the stay before and after the cruise, it worked out well.
All in all I would give our vacation a “10+”.

Thanks so much for helping us plan a marvelous vacation and memories of a lifetime.

We had a fabulous time in India!  Thank You for helping with our trip.  Varanasi was incredible; seeing rituals performed on the Ganges.  Rickshaw rides were a hoot! The food was wonderful!

Hightlights of the trip:  Learning more about Gandhi and seeing where he lived in Mumbai. Rambagh palace Hotel was lovely with Indian-Rajasthan parade (elephant, horses, etc.,) and dinner on the back porch with dancers and music.

The Taj Mahal visit was a hightlight.  We loved Kerala (it was the nicest area to discover--Thanks for adding that in!) and the resort.  A favorite was the cooking demonstration and dinner at a local's household.  Also, the houseboat ride and martial arts performance were great!

As soon as we decide the next "where and when", we'll be contacting you again.  A big Thanks for planning such a detailed and wonderful stay in India.  It really is a wonderful country to experience!

I talked to my mother for a long time on Monday. She said that their trip to Italy was "perfect" in every way.

They were especially impressed with the hotels you chose and said that the hotel in Venice "could not have been better".  They were very impressed with your service and attention to detail.

Thank you so much for taking such good care of them.  Your recommendations on tours were a perfect match to what they needed.  The private guides you set up were much appreciated.  Each guide was very knowledgeable and made their trip "much more interesting"!

I will definitely contact you for travel needs in the future.

Words would fail me to describe how absolutely phenomenal and unforgettable this trip was.  Truly magnificent and awesome, really a privilege and a life changing experience to be in such a treasured place on this earth.

We had nothing but remarkable good luck with weather on the cruise and were able to make almost all of our zodiac landings.  Some days, it was better weather in Antarctica than it was in Pasadena, let alone New York.  Plus, the Drake Passage on the way home was as smooth as silk, so i guess we must have done something right in our lives to have had such a successful crossing.

The crew, expedition staff, naturalists/lecturers, and captain/officers of the ship were outstanding.  Ken really appreciated the photo coach on board and participated in the photo contest.  He won a special commendation prize for one of his photos!

It was nice to have the internet access, so as to stay in touch with my family members at home.  We came away with wonderful photos, DVD from the photography team, documentation prepared by the expedition staff/historian, and great memories.  Overall, we had a fantastic trip!
Thanks so very much for all your work!

Well our trip is about over - we have a few more days here in Alexandria to rest up, then we dash back to Cairo for one more day and we fly back to the States on the 13th.  Our time has gone very quickly here and it will take some time to absorb all the interesting and wonderful things we have seen and learned on this trip. By the way, I took over 2000 digital pictures - It will take us years to sort them out! Bye for now.

Hi Donna,

We had a fabulous trip -- loved the Grant Hotel Tremezzo!  The service was wonderful; the view spectacular!  They were so kind and accommodating with the kids.  We truly felt like we were living in a palace.   The restaurants in Tremezzo were delicious -- never had a bad meal. Our favorite local find in Tremezzo was the Cantina Follie, a wine bar, owned and run by a young couple.  We took the ferry to several villages:  Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio.  We enjoyed the shopping in Bellagio and Varenna -- found several local artists with beautiful work.  We will return some day!  Absolutely one of the most beautiful places in the world!

Our only glitch, which was minor, was the the car rental.  We were supposed to have Mercedes station wagons, and they only had sedans so it was a bit of a challenge fitting all of our luggage along with the passengers, but we did it.  We were quite a sight!

Thank you for everything Donna!  You were a huge help and we will pass your name on to friends and family.  We will let you know of any future travel plans.  Thanks!!

Dear Donna....

FYI, the China trip was excellent.  Everything ran so smoothly!

China is an amazing country.  We really appreciate all your hard work in organizing this for us.  You did a wonderful job!  We had an idea of what we were going there is see and do, but this was fantastic!

The guides you set up were great (there are not enough superlatives)...getting us into places where we were often the only "gringos" around.  It was magical trip for us!

Talk with you soon for the next adventure.

A month ago today Steve and I were just arriving in Paris . . . Prior to leaving I had various expectations of the trip but never in my wildest imagination could I ever have anticipated the breathtaking moments I would have.

Everyone asks me what my favorite time was and I really cannot choose – every day I went to bed thinking “that day” had to be the best and the next day I felt again that surely “that day” was as good as it could get.

Steve says he knows in my heart that my most awesome moment was standing in the Great Theatre in Ephesus when an unknown tourist belted out ‘How Great Thou Art’.  He may be right . . . what an awesome moment it was to witness that impromptu performance on the very platform that the Apostle Paul once delivered a sermon.

So, so many wonderful memories.  You have no idea what a spectacular time we had – yes, Steve too.  I’m not sure I had ever heard him speak the word “awesome” before, but I heard it regularly – including every morning about 5:00 as we pulled into the next port.  He is not a morning person, but I don’t think I ever had to wake him on the trip – he was always watching the sun come up.  He’s sold on the cruise vacations and talking about where we could go next – I know he’s interested in Spain and more stops in Italy .  His alternate plan is to sell the house, cash in my 401(k) and buy an Airstream – ha ha!!

I’m glad that you warned me that things don’t always go as planned and to take it lightly.  When I found out the day before our trip that our return flight from New York to Austin had been rescheduled so early that we could not make the flight, I didn’t panic.  I told him we would catch it the following day and we spent a night in Rome !  And you made it happen!

Yours Truly, Private Client, Thanks for ALL your help!

Hi Donna!

What a wonderful stay!  You made it so easy and everything worked out so well.  It was the first time we booked via the internet, but loved the personal touches you did with phone calls, emails and answering every question we had!

Santorini was beautiful, the hotel was fabulous. We really enjoyed our suite, they put rose petals on the bed in a shape of a heart.  Every evening with turndown we got chocolates and bottled water. We really liked that.  They also had a computer set up, which is how we were able to contact you.  We took their van into Fira and to the beach. On the last day, we rented a 4-wheeler and tooled around the island. We loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again. You matched us up perfectly!

I found my most FAVORITE restaurant of the entire trip in Elounda as we were walking through. I can't remember the name of it, but the food was delicious and the view fabulous In Crete we liked the one day tour to the ruins in Heraklion. Very interesting and informative.

We really liked Athens a lot. The hotel you picked for us was so nice, in a GREAT spot, and convenient to everything. We got lost for about 2 hours in the Plaka. There were many more streets than the map let on!  We learned our way around and did well for the remainder of our stay.

The tours you booked for us were fantastic!  We liked the Athens day tour and visiting the Acropolis was a highlight.  It meant so much more, seeing it with the guide; so they could explain the history and the culture of what was going on at the time.  The Cape Sounion tour was a beautiful drive along the coast, thanks for your suggestions. Our tour guide also wrote a book on Greek Mythology, which we purchased and had her sign.

Overall we had a WONDERFUL trip!! Your quick and assuring responsewhile we were there was great.  We enjoyed ourselves so much and thinking of where our next adventure will bring us.  Will definitely call you when we decide!

Thank You for everything!  Wonderful Greece!

 ************

Thank You Donna -

Man, what an awesome trip it was!  Thank you for all your hard work!!  We could really tell that you put a lot into making it as perfect as possible for us, and it was all very appreciated.

Let's see, our favorite restaurant i think was in Sorrento, Zi-Antanio Mare (i think that's right)  We actually went there 2 nights in a row!  They offer cab service from and to the restaurant, included in the fee of the dinner.... which really wasn't much at all!  They also offered free "taste-testing" during the evening, pizza was one night, the Lemoncello (forgive the spelling) was after dinner... it seems like there was another, but my mind is still sleeping!

Our favorite hotel was in Florence, you choose the BEST for us.  The location was perfect, the room was huge and elegant and we received complimentary shirts and slippers.  The shirts are so soft and comfy too....... It just really made the stay there awesome to have that special treatment.

Or favorite city..... hard to choose between Venice and Sorrento.  They were both so pretty, people were so nice and the local handicrafts/souvenirs were plentiful.  And they were really easy to walk around in.

Our "night life" consisted of eating dinner! LOL   Seems they take up to 3 hours to eat dinner.  Which was fun in Venice, but by the time we got to Sorrento... we just wanted to walk dinner off! LOL  The food was fantastic throughout our visit.

Our favorite activity was the walking and people watching.   It was interesting to see the different people, styles and customs.

The historic city tour was really good, got to see the ancient ruins, and major sights with a very good English speaking guide.  : )  Thanks for setting that up for us!

Florence, our first impression was that it was dirty, but i did get a beautiful diamond ring there, so i can't complain too much!   LOL    In Sorrento they upgraded us to a room with a balcony so we had a view overlooking the water---beautiful!

All in all the trip was awesome.  We hope to return someday.  But there's other stuff that has to come first.  Like a new kitchen  LOL

The trip length was perfect, we weren't dying to get home, and weren't so ready to leave.  Time to get back to reality though and start paying the bills!

Thanks again for all the help on getting the trip set up so perfectly.  We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely call YOU for our next trip.

Grazie ~ Back to Italy...ANYtime

Testimonials about Donna Salerno, Europe, exotic tours, and vacation specialist:
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!  Donna!

It was pure bliss!  There was absolutely NOTHING that could have been improved.  Yes, its true that you will read some reports on Trip Advisors or other sites about construction, but you had us on the other side of the resort and never heard any of it.  We were able to get the massages you mentioned ("Zen massage" where they incorporated Pilates and Yoga stretching with deep tissue massage...unbelievable!).  Our suite was actually a stand alone pavilion, with sliding glass doors on 3 sides, and the bathroom, closet, mini-bar changing area behind a wall behind the bed.  Everything, candy, soda, beer, Perrier, chocolate, nuts, macaroons) except hard liquor was free, as were all local calls and calls to the US.  The food was to die for, and when I kept ordering the same thing every day for lunch (cold cucumber soup, the chef offered to give me the recipe (which I took, but have yet to find...I'm still in that "state of bliss").

We made very good use of all the beach equipment, sailed every day on a Hobie cat, sea kayaked and snorkeled (I brought my own dive equip, but they have plenty of very high end equip for guests to use).  There are no life guards, per se, but I guess you'd call them beach attendants (who were very adept at swimming, so I wouldn't worry if there was a beach emergency) kept us cool with water, cold towels, regular towels, and doing such mundane things as moving chairs to get in or out of the sun.  One of them saw that I was collecting shells, and went to get me a bucket for storage!   When I went in the water, he kept looking for shells for me!  Just incredible, over the top, friendly guest service.  The kind of service where your needs are anticipated, you don't need to ask for something, they've thought of it before you have...

We found out at the last minute that we had friends staying at Grace Bay Club at the same time, and invited them to our place for dinner. Our resort arranged a car for their pick up.  We asked if room service could provide some appetizers for us to have in the room before dinner.  No problem. The chef gave us a menu, but then made additional suggestions for appetizers that were not on the menu, which we chose.

Everything was delivered and set it up on a recessed table (to make it seem like you are sitting on the floor) on the beach side patio outside of our room, just as the sun was dipping into the horizon.  We had been forewarned that there were little "no see 'ems" (those tiny mosquitoes that come out at sunset) and brought bug spray, but the hotel provided something that smelled much nicer and did the trick as well.  When we were done, we call for a ride (very nice golf carts some of which sat 6 people) to dinner.  Zip.. we were there.  Any time we called for a ride (which I must admit wasn't too often, since we enjoyed the walk), it arrived within 2 or 3  minutes NO EXAGGERATION!!!  When we got back to our room, all the serving dishes, plates utensils, glasses, table cloths, etc, had been cleaned away.

As an added attraction, which I'm not sure if you planned or not, there were only 9 guests, including us when we arrived; Eve Longoria and her new husband were checking out, and a group of models, agents, and catalog photographers from Victoria's Secret checked in to use the resort as a backdrop for next year's bathing suit collection. And, yes I did get pictures; my husband was pleasantly surprised!

I can't thank you enough!   It was more therapy than a vacation.  There was no formal dress code, very quiet, very secluded and impeccable in every way. This would not be the place to go if you wanted a lot of shopping, lots of choices of clubs to go to at night, or be on a busy beach.  Of course, the concierge will arrange any of those things for you if you want (off property), but we were content to just stay where we were.  The ultimate question is, would we go back?  ABSOLUTELY. Would we recommended it to our friends?  ABSOLUTELY.  Is it expensive? ABSOLUTELY, but you don't get the feeling like you are being "nickel and dimed", so to speak (like with the free mini bar and phone calls to the US), and the service was the best I have ever experienced.
I have emailed your name to many of my friends again (since you helped with our previous "over the top" trip to Hawaii), and I hope they get a chance to experience what value a great travel consultant can provide!  You truly gave us one of the most comforting, therapeutic, and luxurious experiences imaginable.  Thank You doesn't convey how much we appreciate what you were able to provide, especially on such short notice.

Warmest regards,  Until next time!  Private Client - Caribbean Escape

Donna -

We are back and the arrangements you put together for Europe was great. Your reservations were seamless from the time we left until we returned last night.

All of the hotels were wonderful.  We enjoyed the hotel in Salzburg the best - our room had a balcony that overlooked the river.  Our visit to Dachau outside of Munich and the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg were the most memorable experiences for different reasons. Innsbruck was by far the prettiest city I have ever seen.

Our only other experience with European travel was a Mediterranean cruise; so we were a little intimidated.  However, your arrangements made it easy to navigate. Thanks again for all your help.  Deciding on where to go next We'll talk soon.

Egypt was first class all the way.  A personal guide in Egypt for the two of us.  He traveled everywhere with us and was a great guy in addition to being a great guide.  And we had a personal driver & van everywhere we went to boot.

We saw & learned so much more than the "standard" guided tours (Okay you 40 people, follow my little yellow flag and try not to get lost...).  Accommodations were literally first rate; at least by Egyptian standards.  Zero complaints here as well.

Germany was a cake walk as we have dear friends there that also gave us first class treatment.

I will only be using you folks for all our future travel.  I'm thinking Russia and/or China next -- of course with another stop to visit our German friends.  Thank you so much for an absolutely stress free, wonderful, and incredible vacation.
