Discover a Nordic wonderland on this 2-week Scandinavia tour through Sweden, Denmark and Norway – cruising spectacular fjords, gazing at glaciers, viewing Viking ships, riding one of the world’s steepest railway lines through the mountains, exploring medieval ports, and visiting a stave church, a Danish castle, Tivoli Gardens and more.
Day 1 – Welcome to Sweden
Welcome to Stockholm. A transfer is included from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to the Sheraton Stockholm Hotel in the heart of this historic city. Meet your traveling companions at this evening’s welcome reception and dinner.
Day 2 – Discover Stockholm
Begin your discovery of Sweden’s capital with sightseeing including a guided visit to the impressive City Hall, where Nobel Prize festivities take place. Tour the Vasa Museum, featuring the impressive Vasa, an ornate royal warship that sank in Stockholm’s harbor following its launch in 1628 and was raised in 1961. In your free afternoon, perhaps take a canal tour, or walk through the cobbled streets of medieval Gamla Stan, or Old Town.
Day 3 – Across the countryside
Your Scandinavia tour takes you along the Yellow Roads through the Swedish countryside today, past idyllic meadows, forests, and lakes. Arrive in lovely Toftaholm, where your lodging is a lakeside family-run hotel that gets you away from it all; enjoy dinner at the hotel tonight.
Day 4 – Travel to Denmark
Depart Toftaholm to visit Sofiero Slott, a majestic castle built in 1865. Continue your Scandinavia tour after lunch with a drive across the Oresund Bridge/Tunnel from Sweden to Copenhagen, Denmark. Your hotel overlooks the Danish capital’s historic harbor; dine this evening at your hotel.
Day 5 – Copenhagen
Start your exploration of Copenhagen with a visit to Rosenborg Palace, built in Dutch Renaissance style, to see the Danish Crown Jewels. The afternoon and evening are free to explore the historic Nyhavn area and stroll along the Stroget, Copenhagen’s main street. Explore the famous Tivoli Gardens amusement park.
Day 6 – Danish Riviera 
Journey to North Sealand, a region of villages, palaces, lakes, and forests. Visit 17th-century Frederiksborg Castle, built in Danish Renaissance style on three islands in a small lake. Savor local fare at a rustic country inn for lunch and drive the Yellow Roads along the “Danish Riviera” back to Copenhagen. Pay a poignant visit to the Museum of Danish Resistance 1940-1945, before boarding the overnight ferry to Norway.
Day 7 – Oslo
Enjoy awe-inspiring scenery as you cruise up Oslo Fjord. Upon arrival in Norway’s capital, a guided city tour with your local guide includes the Viking Ship Museum, featuring three well-preserved Viking ships dating to 800 AD, found in royal burial mounds with fascinating artifacts. Take in the Vigeland Sculpture Park, with its 212 life-sized sculptures by famed Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland, who devoted his career to the project. Overnight in the heart of Oslo at the landmark Hotel Continental.
Day 8 – The countryside and railway 
Depart Oslo and venture into Norway’s beautiful countryside today; enjoy lunch in Gol before embarking on a journey on the Norwegian Railway System to Myrdal, for the spectacular descent to Flåm aboard the Flåmsbana (the Flåm Railway). A masterpiece of Norwegian engineering, the Flåmsbana is one of the world’s steepest railway lines on normal gauge; you’ll descend some 2,600 feet through the mountains, past waterfalls, rivers, ravines and sheer cliffs – it’s quite a memorable journey! Enjoy a beer tasting and regional cuisine tonight at your countryside hotel in Flåm.
Day 9 – Fjords
Continue your Scandinavia tour with a guided visit to the Borgund Stave Church in Laerdal – one of the country’s finest, best-preserved examples of a traditional and iconic Norwegian wooden stave church, it looks very much as it did when built over 800 years ago! Then travel to Gudvangen for a ferry cruise along the Naeroyfjord, one of Norway’s narrowest fjords. Enjoy a barbecue dinner during the first night of your three-night stay at the Hotel Alexandra, a mountainside family-run resort set amidst the stunning Nordfjord.
Day 10 – Glaciers
Travel today to one of Norway’s most inspirational natural wonders – Briksdal Glacier, set at the end of one of the Nordfjord’s three branches. Meltwater from the glacier has created three emerald-green lakes in the valley; a ride on a “Troll Car” past thundering waterfalls and a short hike to the foot of the glacier lead to views of absolutely stunning scenery – it’s a Scandinavia tour highlight!
Day 11 – Geirangerfjord
As your Scandinavia tour continues, drive to Dalsnibba (weather permitting), the region’s highest point reached by road, for delightful views of towering cliffs and waterfalls. Then journey from Geiranger to Hellesylt for a ferry cruise on Geirangerfjord, one of the longest, deepest, and most scenic fjords in the world. It was recently designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site; you’ll see the sheer, crystalline rock walls rising 4,500 feet from the water, with waterfalls cascading over the edge.
Day 12 – Bergen 
Journey south past more photo-worthy fjords – and aboard a ferry from Lavik to Oppedal – en route to the city of Bergen, located on the Byfjord, famed for its ancient harbor and open-air fish market. Your hotel is set close to Bryggen, the city’s old wharf district, featuring traditional wooden buildings and a medieval atmosphere. Founded in 1070 during the days of the Hanseatic League, it is one of the oldest large trading ports in Northern Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 13 – Troldhaugen’s Prer Gynt
After learning about Bergen’s centuries-old maritime legacy on a guided city tour, embark on an excursion with your local guide to Troldhaugen, former home of Edvard Grieg; Norway’s foremost composer is perhaps best known for his musical score for the play Peer Gynt.
Day 14 – Farewell
Your Scandinavia tour ends in Bergen, Norway.
