Spain Drops Vaccine Requirement for American Travelers
Travelers from the U.S. will be able to visit Spain regardless of their vaccination status with no test and no quarantine.
Effective immediately, the new rule applies to residents in the U.S who don’t visit any other country prior to arrival in Spain, other than to connect flights without leaving the airport.
“Following a review under the recommendation on the gradual lifting of the temporary restrictions on non-essential travel into the EU, the Council updated the list of countries, special administrative regions and other entities and territorial authorities for which travel restrictions should be lifted. As stipulated in the Council recommendation, this list will continue to be reviewed every two weeks and, as the case may be, updated,” a spokesperson for Spain’s Consul for Tourism Affairs mentioned.
Now, the only requirement is that travelers fill out a health questionnaire prior to departure.
The questionnaire can be filled out online. Once completed, travelers will receive a QR code that must be shown as control points at the airport upon arrival. Each person must have a QR associated with their trip that will allow them to validate the information on their form by health authorities. Previously, Americans had to be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before traveling in order to be permitted entry into the country.
